Waddle is a walk-to-earn-screen-time app. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and what we deliberately never do. The short version: your health and screen-time data are used to run the app, most of it never leaves your phone, and we don't sell anything or run ads.

What we collect and why

• Step count (Apple Health & motion sensor) — to measure your walking and unlock your screen-time budget. Stays on your device; a derived daily streak and league XP are sent to our server for leaderboards.
• App usage / Screen Time — to show minutes reclaimed and enforce your budget on the apps you choose. On your device only: Apple delivers this privately to an on-device extension, so the raw usage never reaches us.
• Your name — so others can recognise you on leaderboards. Stored on your device and sent to our server to display your name on leaderboards.
• Friend connections — to power friend streaks and leaderboards. Friend links (anonymous IDs) are stored on our server (Supabase).
• Notification / device token — to send you reminders and friend-streak alerts. Stored on our server so we can deliver pushes.
• Subscription status — to unlock paid features. Handled by Apple; we see whether you're subscribed, never your card details.
• Location & your map. With your permission (including "Always"), Waddle records your location — including in the background — to reveal your personal walking map and show a local leaderboard. Your location history (the places you've walked) is stored on your device and used only for these features. We don't sell it or share it with third parties. You can turn location off anytime in iOS Settings.
• Contacts & finding friends (optional). If you use "Find friends," Waddle reads your device contacts only to check which of them already use Waddle and to let you invite the rest. Your contacts are matched securely and are never stored on our servers, kept, or shared. If you choose to make yourself findable, you provide your phone number, which we store only as a scrambled (hashed) value so that contacts who already have your number can find you — we never store or display your actual phone number. Contacts access is optional; Waddle works fully without it.

<aside> 🦆 Your Health data is never sold or shared for advertising. We use it solely to run Waddle's features, in line with Apple's HealthKit rules.

What we don't do

• We don't show ads.
• We don't sell, rent, or trade your personal data.
• We don't track you across other apps or websites.
• We don't receive your raw screen-time numbers — Apple keeps those on your device.
